does it only need a new speedo cable? or more parts?

Does it ever cut out she is idling? If so she could be coasting down hills, and therefore it could be the idle speed controller.

speedo cable cheap as chips from scrappy. GEt a new one put on and im SURE the car will sell for 500+

Speedo cable, and er, speedo cable. It needs to be attached otherwise it'll cut out when not under load. Get one from the scrappy for 2 quid.

Im not sure wat other bits it MAY need.

She has had her dreams shattered by a few backstreet garages.
