K&N Apollo Closed Induction Kit - £155

From... http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/knfilter.html

K&N have developed the K&N Apollo closed intake system to give optimum engine performance to your car. The K&N Apollo has a 70mm neck as standard (for other size hoses, an additional coupling is required), this makes the kit pretty much a universal fitment. To match your cars engine bay, K&N have produced the Apollo in Silver, Blue or Red.
Designed and developed in the UK by K&N's Motor Sport team
Ideal for bespoke intake systems or for upgrading existing kits

make me an offer, ive had it on the car for 200mile, you can feel the car pull harder and rev faster when fitted to the car.

I got the thing from K&N as they had the car for R&D. I like it, tho not enough to run it on the car as it makes too much noise for me...

It goes... ROAR....

Looks similar to the Viper induction thingy.
We had this on the clio, and boy you could feel it pull harder. The noise it makes it a bit OTT for me. It has its uses as it can be used in 2 ways,

It can be used as a normal filter where the cap is left off, this allows warm engine bay air to be allowed in the filter.

Its other use is that, the cap can be put on, and the ducting used to enable forced cold air to allow the filter which is far far better for gains.

You can buy a thing on eBay that is a resistor to confuse the air temp sensor to believe that the car is getting more cold air so it puts in more fuel (injection only) to compensate but really you are getting warm air. This thing is better as it uses cold air from outside. The K&N team put the hose behind the LH headlamp as they said there was enough forced air through that area as it was facing away from the engine...

If i could stop it Roaring, id keep it..

Ideally its made up to suit a Clio 172 / 182.
You can see from this where the clio has 2 inputs to the airbox, one from outside behind the lh side of the bumper, one from behind the headlamp. For me they just left the other pipe in place so i could put it back to standard. You can see where they have used the engine bay mounting.

This is a graph of before and after Dyno run. You can see the car gained 8.5bhp from standard, ie no mods. Tho the torque figure is well out. That figure makes the car have 433NM when the car is 200NM as standard. Therefore i cant be led to believe that the dyno run is correct or not..
