What does "flashed" mean?

bios update so it can play copies, like when you update the bios on your pc motherboard it`s called `flashing`

it can also let you run unofficial software tools or "homebrew" on the machine without authorization from Micro$oft such as Emulators, Games and Linux.

I got the XBox now, it appears to be working fine, albeit a bit loud, only prob is, set it to 720p on the tv and the tv screen goes black with 'no signal' on screen, put it on 1080i and the UI has a red haze over the selectable icons, could be a graphics problem due to it overheating a while ago. It's one of the old 360's with no hd socket just components, going out to buy a game today and save it onto the hard drive to save the 360 from doing much work.
