I used to have stick insects. The 'mother' lays eggs throughout it's life (constantly). They come out and they are tiny (about a centimetre long), and they grow to about 3 inches long. They sit on branches and rock back and forth all day, and have an odd 'walk' when you put them on your hand (not like spiders etc).
As I said, they're constantly laying eggs, which sit dormant until they're warmed up. I put some on the radiator and they hatched. They are a very good pet.
Although a better pet would be the pair of Degus in 'Pets At Home' in Bromborough. I wanted them, but I'm a bit too old for that now.
