Our stick insects have had babies! They're £2 each. They only need a jar and some ivy or brambles.

How long do they live for and how big do they get?

How many babies did the mother have?
Posted By: DavidB Re: For sale Baby stick insects - 28th Jan 2009 11:55am
I used to have stick insects. The 'mother' lays eggs throughout it's life (constantly). They come out and they are tiny (about a centimetre long), and they grow to about 3 inches long.
They sit on branches and rock back and forth all day, and have an odd 'walk' when you put them on your hand (not like spiders etc).

And life expectancy?

I am thinking the kids might like to have a couple. Our hamster passed on a few months ago and was never replaced.

We have a small glass fish tank that I think would make a good environment for them.

About a year, if you keep a couple of eggs and let them hatch, they're a perpetual pet.

I'm interested, Stuy!!!!! Hence my sensible questions!!!!!
Posted By: DavidB Re: For sale Baby stick insects - 28th Jan 2009 5:45pm
As I said, they're constantly laying eggs, which sit dormant until they're warmed up. I put some on the radiator and they hatched.
They are a very good pet.

Although a better pet would be the pair of Degus in 'Pets At Home' in Bromborough. I wanted them, but I'm a bit too old for that now.
