Dodgy power supply? Are you referring to the ac lead or the internals of the laptop?

it wont charge whilst you are using the lap top ,think its a loose connection and it also needs a new battery the current one only holds about twenty mins of power

Sounds like mine; I know a couple of people who are looking for a cheap mobile solution (ie. to take from one place to another, not to be run on battery), so I will let them know.

what about using it with the battery out all together and just running of the mains.
