Pictures show what appear to be a dolphin swimming in the River Mersey.

ECHO reader Peri Simonsen shared the photos after spotting the creature by the Albert Dock, behind Tate Liverpool.

The animal can be seen surging through the water and appears to be alone.

Water quality in the Mersey is vastly improved and the reward is seeing the seals and the dolphins making regular visits. This also indicates that the fish stock is up too, hopefully things will get better still.

Dolphins or porpoises?

It looks more like a porpoise. They are becoming
regular visitors.

Watched a seal having a great time down near Woodside last week.

It was in the water and not staggering from Gallaghers

I remember seeing a school of porpoises in the Mersey in the 50s.
