pitbulls... aren't they illegal now???

i wouldn't advertise you're after one, it'll get taken away before you even have it.
Posted By: _Moretonlad_ Re: dog wanted staffy or pitt - 7th Jul 2012 12:26am
A Pitbull is legal in UK, as long as it registered with the Police, muzzled in public, kept on a lead in public, and has to be neutered. But finding one and obtaining one wont be easy. I would stick with just trying to get a Staff.

This should be in pet section i think.also why don't you try the dog pound or animal rescue centre they have lots of dogs waiting for good home.

No it was directed at the original poster. These dogs are used as status symbols by young longs to prove the are 'hard'
Posted By: alann Re: dog wanted staffy or pitt - 7th Jul 2012 10:29pm
The ones that have them as status symbols never seem to have them on leads either, one went for my GSD, who was on a lead, his excuse was its a fu**in puppy, a proper fu**wit...
Posted By: ASE71 Re: dog wanted staffy or pitt - 7th Jul 2012 11:07pm
My mate has 2 Bitch Staffies and they are adorable. Its all about the up-bringing. Those Chavs that want them as status symbols tend to bring the dogs up as they have been brought up themselves.
Posted By: Chorizo Re: dog wanted staffy or pitt - 8th Jul 2012 9:11am
There are a lot of dog breeds that are cute as puppies so why do chavs all go for staffs now? Because they look hard. Sad really. You wouldn't see a chav walking a westie or a border collie because they 'look gay'.

Hey, leave Border Collies out of this, lol.

Sorry but ill never understand why anyone would want a fighting dog in their home. And that's exactly what these dogs are and what they were originally bred for.

where would you draw the line?
akitas, bulldogs, english bull terriers mastiffs, dog de bordeaux and many more were used for fighting, they all start out as puppies and with a responsible owner who knows and understands the breed, they neednt be a problem.

well said

They are all fighting dogs so no I wouldn't have them in my house. You can raise a tiger or a lion from birth and they can be relatively tame but I wouldn't want one in my house. A dog is a dog why should it matter if it looks good they are there for companionship not a fashion accessory.

akitas werent used for fighting they were used for hunting, even if they have a fight its not been a sustained attack more a case of knocking another dog over so it submits.

The reason this person wont visit a rescue centre to look at dogs is that they wont get the dog 'free', there will be a re-homing fee and the centres usually do a home check first!!!!

When my kids were little we first had a doberman, brilliant house dog and great with the kids, soft with everyone but they didn't know that. It was to guard premises of which I was the caretaker. Just a look at him was enough to put off any would be burglars.
After that I had a staffie, my mate used to breed them, he was just an ordinary house dog and once again was great with the kids. It's how you train 'em
Wasn't impressed with the staffie in the park last week when I was on my way for a pint. Nice white trousers, freshly laundered and pressed and the bloody thing jumped up on me, off it's lead of course, and put mud down both thighs and legs. "Sorry, he's just a pup from the rescue", piggin' idiot. After that the bloke and his dippy bird carried on and then the dog went over and started midering a bloke who had two dogs, both on leads, one of which was a mastiff of all things. The mastiff bloke said that idiot boy should take charge of his dog and he said it's ok he won't hurt your dog he's only pup from rescue. The mastiff man replied that it wasn't his dog he was worried about it was the staffie because his dog would mangle it. At this the chav went berserk, effin' and blindin' at the bloke who'd tried to give him a heads up. And people wonder why staffie owners/walkers are looked upon as dickheads.

A script writer couldn't have written that better Bandy. Very explicit and typical of the chav mindset.

walking my dog today and came across a staffy type dog running wild, speeding round jumping on me and my dog, then jumping on a few other dogs. One was a very small dog which was petrified. This staffy dogs owner looked a right dozy mare, I said to her put it on a lead, she said 'im socialising it to get used to people'! bloody hell if thats socialising Im staying in the house. It was nowhere near her, and she just had her head down in a mobile!
