I can remember years ago when I was a teenager our fish got a sore on it's eye. My mum went to the pet shop and they gave her drops for the water. It worked!

it might sound daft but fish in rivers get sores where they rub on stones!!!could this be the case?

You could take it to a petshop to see if they can identify the cause.most skin infections can be cleared up using a mix of formalin & green malachite.ive used tetra medifin to treat my koi's parasites.fish get infected this time of year as its warming up but the fishes immune system is weak after the winter.like i said though, your best takin it to petshop maybe andy's aquatics in newferry.they might point u in the right direction & have the correct treatment.

Hope it goes well.

Jeeze how long has it looked like that? Go and get medication from Aquatic shop for mouth rot/fungus,do a water change before you add medication.

You may be able to make it better, it all depends how long its been ill!

AS i said this has happened rapidly,
water is fine cleaned filters the lot, have never encountered problems like that on my fish.

Can't find where you said it came on rapidly.
Hope you get the medication soon!!! Cleaning filters too much can also cause problems as it gets rid of beneficial bacteria that keeps your water safe.

went and seeked advice on the fish. so now i have put British king disease clear in the water, heals all types of rot and bacteria.
He said its common in reptiles for eg, snakes lizards etc.
So fingers crossed this will help.
Thanks everyone for you help and i will keep you all updated xx
