Can anyone tell me what kind of duck this is. Can't find it in any books or on the web. There are two identical ones on the lake in Birkenhead Lower Park and they act like a pair, go everywhere together. Intrigued.

Rude, couldn't see the feet, the water isn't as clear as it used to be. Thanks for that, will have a dekko.

Nah, different duck so still none the wiser.

Looks a bit like a shelduck. The black markings on the head usually have a sharper cut-off where it joins the white on the neck. Maybe just a scruffy one ??

Mmmm. After looking up a few pics, I'm having my doubts about it being a shelduck. Maybe someone who KNOWS about ducks can chime in on this one ?

Could be a Fawn and White Indian Runner Duck

That'll do for me, oh wise one. Thought it may be an import and could only find descriptions of British ducks. Couldn't even see them last time I went, day before yesterday. They might have done a runner.

Been again, they are still there but am now wondering how the heck they got there in the first place, India is a long way to run from.
