Can understand why you are pissed off. The whole set up of the RSPCA stinks. It is now run as a comercial business.

for those that missed it tonight on Channel 4 news

maybe now the public will wake up to the gross negligence of animal welfare by an animal welfare charity.

Its time you made your mind up Tilly, one minute you don't want them involved in animal welfare and now you do.

As long as the big bosses dont suffer eh??
Wouldnt trust the RSPCA if my life (or my dogs!!) depended on them!!!! Ever since that incident MANY yrs ago of the manageress in Wallasey abusing animals, think she was German. Miserable, moody cow!!!

Tilly, all of your posts that involve the RSPCA have been to their detriment, one was on the lines that you where encouraging people not to make funds available to them or at least that's how it came across. Like most charities and businesses they are going through some fiscal turbulence, funds available now means they have to prioritise, 19 million in the bank is not a lot for an organisation that size. If they don't make cut backs now then the animals who they have to protect will suffer. They where never formed as a charity to take in unwanted pets that people can't be bothered to keep, its a pity they can't keep it up but that's the way it is. Perhaps if you started to post something positive about the RSPCA instead of the negatives all the time then people would be more generous towards them and they wouldn't be forced to shut animal shelters through lack of funds.

Tilly is like a dog with a bone [excuse the pun] , always banging on about how dogs and animals are treated, well there are some humans that are treated badly as well such as abused children , patients in hospital left on trolleys, the list is endless.

sorry that should of said £119 million in the bank. positive about the rspca you are joking. it's not the small rspca shelters i am banging on about like cross lane, they do the best they can with the funds they get from head office and did you know they have to pay head office to use the rspca logo. it's big noses like Tim Wass and all his cronies up there that give the orders' while sitting on their arses in their big posh building and houses and drive posh cars.

no I wont excuse your pun, if you are passionate about abused kids etc then make a thread about it instead of just adding little digs at me in the threads I make. if you have nothing positive to add (and you rarely do) keep yer nose out.

Tilly, if Cross Lane have to pay for the RSPCA logo, they must be a animal charity in their own right and feel they benefit from having the RSPCA logo, Whether we like it or not all organisations, charitable or otherwise have big earners with large houses and cars, that's the society we live in.

"sorry that should of said £119 million "

Just as a point of order, the article that you link to says:

"The RSPCA is Britain’s eighth largest charity, with an income of £119 million in 2008"

Income doesn't mean that they have that much in the bank - i.e. if I earned £12 000 a year no one could ever describe me as having £12K in the bank!

Don't we all have to remember that the RSPCA is a charity they raise money and offer a service that noone is forcing them to do (and, in the case of the animal welfare inspections, the government can't be bothered to!), if they decide that we can they can no longer afford to offer the service then that's tough unfortunately.

Maybe we should have a long think about how we've got ourselves into a position where we need such a monster sized animal welfare charity as the RSPCA where I would of thought that this should / would be a government function.

PS there's also other animal charities that will take in "surplus" animals

If anyone has any doubts about the RSPCA's attitude to animals, I'd recommend reading this.

http://www.germanshepherdrescue.co.uk/our-dogs-gsds-shot-by-rspca.html

I even beleve they threatened to sue this small charity for using the RSPCA name when trying to publicise this cruelty issue. RSPCA would rather spend money on lawyers than helping animals?

I get the impression that the organisation has started to view animals as an inconvenience.

Right, that's my tuppence worth said. I'm butting out now...
