I got all excited when I dug this up yesterday, thought it looked like a massive sovereign ring. Of course it isn't just some sort of brass fitting i think? Anyway just thought I'd show you.

I know this shape but can't put my finger on it, gut instinct says part of a singer/jones sewing machine.

Try polishing it up Cools.You might find something in small engraved writing.
