I was in this pub at the weekend, it is full of old photos of Wallasey, some are really interesting and frustrating at the same time (can't work out where they are!). Got chatting to the barman who tells me the Pub is known locally as The Ginny - which I knew, but neither of us knew why other than it had something to do with an opera singer of old. Anyone got any clues?

If you search this site you will find all about Jinny Lind the famous oprea singer who is supposed to have stayed at the Ginny.

Thanks for the info!

So it takes its name from the "Posh Spice" of the day! (even if she didn't stay there)

Now I'm intrigued as to why Chequers - another unusual name for a pub!
