Your right Derek the Atlas did have snooker tables with Bentley's next door, My sister's first job when leaving school was in Tolls, she only lasted a week, the manager was a right cow, couldn't keep any staff.
I am very interested in this thread. My grandparents lived in Howe Street which was at the back of Grange Road very near to the Atlas and they drank in there on occasions. I can vaguely remember my grandparents living in Howe St, but cannot remember the Atlas. Am I right in assuming that the Atlas is the pub on the left next to the shop called Tolls and the large building on the right further down Grange Road is the old Co-op building.
just on the left next to Tolls was the Tradesmans pub
