The building, on the village green, has a 1631 date stone, it bcame a public house in the early 1800s, and closed in 1928.

By 1972 the building was derelict ard full of dry rot. An application was made to demolish the building, but it was turned down.

It was then sold at auction, and the new owner restored it as a private house.
