Just want to vent a little about this mornings trip to the tip.

I have a awkward shaped bit of sofa so managed to get by brother (after 4weeks waiting) to take it the tip with me. I get to bidston tip and they say they wont take it cos im in a van, FFS its one of the smallest vans on the road and they wont even take it. "bring it in a car and we can take it" they said.

Now I know they have to stop builders etc from dumping at the site but Come On! all I had was the end of a sofa! use a bit of discretion. I pay my stupidily high F*cking council tax now take my rubbish! Im really P*issed off with our council (they wouldnt take my brown bin saying it was too heavy) oh so shall I put it in a van and take it the tip?....oh wait a second mad

I told the guy on the phone I cant get a van again and he replied "Im sure you can"... ARGH! tw*t! so now im waiting 4 working days for a permit that lasts 4weeks to arrive but I wont have a van to use, and if I hire a van the details will not be the same as the van I used today thus making the permit a waste.

they wanted all kinds of info van make colour model what graphics were on the side WTF does the graphics have to do with anything??

I feel like just dumping it in the middle of the road now.

Tees St is a good dumping place wink
I had the same problem but fortunately it was home time so he let me tip the rubbish and dog kennel

All they are doing is encouraging fly tipping, i sometimes wonder what brains or lack of them is behind this. You can take cyanide, mustard gas and anti tank mines, as long as there in a car your alright, by the way, if you do take such items please dispose of them in the non recycling skip.

Would probably get told its against H&S to walk a sofa into the tip with all those big vehicles around and would need a car lol.

I would be tempted to tie the sofa to the back of the car and tow the f*cker in!!!!

That sounds like john bishops joke about the fridge and the tip.

I take stuff to the tip in a car but I usually strip whatever Iam tipping to it's component parts and sling in a plastic bag,it means things don't get "recycled" and end up where I want the stuff on the tip.

It's just the end part of a sofa.

Wheels,

My mate is a spark and he gets stopped all the time when going to the tips, the lettering on the van is relevant because it suggests the waste is from a company - so I am told. The same system is in operation at Spital tips.

Its the same at all tips across Merseyside and now Chester and Ellesmere port.
I drive a van and cannot take even the stuff from my own house without a permit and I dont even have sign writing.
At least the permit is free tho I am surprised they havent started charging yet.

We've got the builders in at the moment. Before they started we had loads of stuff to get rid of. We rang the people who issue permits and explained we would hire a van and won't know the reg till then. They sent us some permits without reg numbers. All we had to do was show a rental agreement and permit when we got there. We actually borrowed a van! On the day all they asked for was a permit....Sorted!

Still a pain in the arse though.

So what about MPV's like my old Mazda, were all the back seats can be removed basically creating a van in a cars body.

my dad drives a Peugeot partner
They don't stop that going on, smile

WHY! Because it has rear seats/windows all round (classed as a car) joyride

Fold the rear seats down and its a van with windows, crazy
