Out On A Limb is a new, online visual art and creative writing project based on the Wirral. It is hosted at www.outonalimbwirral.net and we're looking for people to submit stories to the collection.

Out On A Limb is the outcome of a four-month project, commissioned by Art for Places, a public art initiative delivered by Liverpool Biennial. Since April, Wirral artist Elaine Speight and novelist Jenn Ashworth have been working with eight budding writers from the Wirral: Doreen Etes, Louise Jones, Barbara Lamb, Jensen Wilder, Robbe Law, Keith Szlamp, Margaret Stocker and Dot Phillips, to produce a collection of short stories about the area.

The stories, which include tales of ladybird invasions, phantom wedding dresses and adventurous cows, were created on individual blogs, which also include photographs, drawings and video, and provide an insight into the writers’ experiences and observations of the project and other aspects of their lives on the Wirral.

The Out On A Limb website has been designed to bring together the nine stories produced by Jenn and the group, and to encourage other people to add their own Wirral stories to the collection.

For more information about the Out On A Limb project, please e-mail [email protected].

I hope you enjoy the stories as much as we enjoyed creating them.

Happy reading!
