Aha! The bun experiment! Wonder whether it was a bad batch (no pun) and there is too much preservative in them?

i just wish they would hurry up and die so i can have extra space in my miniscual kitchen, i cant bring myself to throw them away after waiting this long lol

Seriously though can any body come up with a hypothesis re. Rocks Everlasting Buns?

The outer shell can keep its crusty look but inside, bread is a porous food, so mold can also be growing below the surface. It looks like oxygen has not gotten into the bag to damage its hard exterior. Wonder what is growing inside...

i would think the buns would go squashy if mould was in side and they feel the same as they did when i bought them

The outer shell would remain hard as it was baked. Maybe you could see inside some of the bits where the crust has separated.
Makes you wonder though - if bread preserves like this then we eat it ......

Its just the fact that theres no oxygen.
