In response to a conversation in the 'boredom thread':

I find the lamb is best. You can most days buy the rolls of lamb in Tesco for about £3.50. Unroll and then cut into pieces with scissors. I put any veg in and add a cardoman seed.

Whey hey = where can you buy the canned stuff?

Not for me you understand (deffo not, I'm a DIY cook) but I have a buddy in Bolton and I would love to take him a few cans. He is always providing me with Bolton-made black puds telling me the Bolton ones are best.

That's why you eat it the day you make it and the day after, having frozen the rest after it has gone cold.

Like curries, tastes best the following day.

I have just squinted my way through that recipe and seen that the among the beverages that should accompany it should be Yorkshire Tea or red wine - WTF!!!!

Clearly the fat man in spectacles has never spent one day of his life in Liverpool and is just making it up as he goes along - he is making Yorkshire scouse (which of course doessn't exist) and is trying to impress his lesser educated foodie friends with regaling tales of his times 'in the 'pool - TIT

Yes the photo is of Ken Pye the Liverpool Historian.
He gave a talk about Scouse at St George's Hall on Scouse, the food, dialect, and Scousers and handed out his recipe at the end of the meeting. It was a very good event

I have made many a huge pot of Scouse from that very recipe and its bloody lovely. I have it with some bread rolls, and that sliced beetroot you can get in jars and a sprinkle of Worcester sauce. I then give some away to friends or relatives and the rest is eaten in the week either at work or for tea again.

Just bought some teabags today in Aldi and they are ok. I find Yorkshire tea far too strong.

Have gone over to Aldi from Tesco in last month as food much cheaper and good quality. Will still buy an odd item in Tesco, but they have priced themselves out of the market when people are struggling to make ends meet.
