Their machines actually have certain registration numbers built in to them that they can't ticket, for example the guy who repairs/checks the pay and display machines, this does mean however that no matter where he parks his ticket will either not go through or auto cancel.
I'm tempted to make an FOI request and see how many vehicles are on it and why.

They do have certain regs in their handheld but MARKED emergency vehicles would not be given a ticket, they would get into too much trouble and I can guarantee you one wasnt issued to an abulance.

Fair enough but ThDr was referring to a ticket issued in Wirral and I was answering him referring to the Wirral, these links are all for tickets in London.
