Just read this on this mornings edition of internet magazine Mersey Magazine

Investigations are underway on Wirral after packages of what appeared to be toxic waste were washed up on New Brighton beach

The packages are being examined by Enviromental officers and as yet there is no definitive proof as to what they contain but there is a belief that some of them may contain clinical waste or mercury

This is quite shocking as some people still swim in there.

Potentially toxic sacks of waste have been spotted on a Wirral beach.

The plastic bags, which have writing on them saying they contain clinical waste and mercury, were seen by a member of the public on New Brighton Beach.

The man was walking on Magazine Promenade on Tuesday evening when he saw the rubbish and reported it to Wirral Council.

A council spokesman said it was investigating and further checks would be made when the tide was out.

He said: "We are investigating where this waste has come from.

By the time we received the complaint the tide was already on its way in, so this afternoon, when the tide has gone out, we will ensure the beach is cleaned and remove and dispose of any waste properly."

Well, sorry poochies but we're not going the beach now frown
So much for it being cleaner now. When are people/companies going to take responsability (don't think that's spelt correctly *oops*) for their rubbish.

We took our dog for a walk along the beach at New Brighton yesterday afternoon, Tuesday and he was retching for an hour or two afterwards. We didn`t see what he had eaten and were unaware of this pollution. We did actually see a small black plastic package laying in the rocks in what used to be the old boating pool, but didn`t look to see what was written on it. Our dog seems fine again now.

All we've really got here is that there's stuff in toxic waste sacks on the beach - hopefully it's just some numpty who's used clinical waste sacks for normal rubbish and then fly-tipped it but let's wait and see.
