Don't know if this is common knowledge to a lot of people now, but its news to me!

The current coins are magnetic which would have been great in the fifties and sixties when we tried to get them out of grids etc. Bent spoon on a cane or chewed chewy was the best we could come up with!

I don't know who sent you that link but looking at the details of the web page, the article comes from 12th May 2006.
I found it after randomly watching a youtube video about it haha. Didn't see a date on the webpage.
There's a time stamp encoded in the webpage, you have to know what you're looking for.

The layout of the page looked really old, and there was no option to add comments, which led me to think it wasn't a recent article.
