Sad news indeed, and one of our own as well.
sad news. We played together as kids in brassey street
So sad.....had a bad crush on him !!
Had the pleasure of jamming with him in the nineties in new Brighton , great guy not affected at all ...he used to love going to the Dock hotel (now sadly gone)for a pint with his cousin Colin...
He had a cousin called Ray. Went to Tollemache Road school. Back in the sixties, Ray was always telling me how proud he was of Colin's progress on the group scene. He played locally in many of the youth clubs. There were loads of them back then.
I say "Colin" because I think he reversed his name from Colin Lewis to Lewis Collins. Although I can't find any reference to this on any of his profile sites.
I can't understand why he never progressed after the hit TV series he starred in. He was rejected by the Bond producers for the James Bond part because they said he was too aggressive.
Shame really, he should have gone a lot further.
RIP mate. Another Birkenhead lad who did okay for himself.
He was always classed as under rated and under used
He went to the USA and had a stereo typical job in a company I think
Its on YouTube
Sad loss.
I don't like martin Shaw, he always was embarrassed by that classic programme and didn't want it repeated until actors in shows widows demanded it to get fees
my mum had her first fag with him in gautby road as kids
