"Stuff of every parent's nightmare": Michael Jackson

A “dangerous and predatory” paedophile who snatched a ten-year-old boy off the street in broad daylight before tying him to a bed and abusing him was jailed indefinitely today.

Former pirate radio DJ Michael Jackson, who changed his name to the late pop star to impress his wife, was warned he may never be freed from prison for the “horrific” attack.

Jailing the 50-year-old indefinitely for public protection, a judge described the incident as “the stuff of every parent’s nightmare”.

Jackson, who was jailed in the 1980s for a sex attack on a teenage girl, told the terrified boy: “Don’t bother screaming or you are dead - it’s time to die if you make a noise.”

He then dragged his victim - who had left his home to buy a fizzy drink - into his flat, tied him to a bed with rope and duct-tape and groped him.

Jackson then shoved the boy into an airing cupboard with a pillow case over his head and went to a friend’s house to play computer games.

Before leaving the traumatised youngster in the dark, Jackson repeatedly threatened to kill him if he made a noise or tried to escape.

Cops believe he went to the pal’s home to build himself an alibi with the intention of returning later to molest the boy.

The half-naked child was found more than three hours later when he managed to kick his way out of the airing cupboard to a nearby window.

A family friend who had been helping to search for the youngster spotted him crying at the window and raised the alarm.

The terrified boy jumped into the arms of policeman, telling his astonished rescuer: “I’ve been kidnapped. The man’s gone and left me.”

Horrified detectives discovered a craft knife, pliers and a hammer in Jackson’s bedroom - and said they fear he was planning on using them.

Incredibly, twisted Jackson had tried to abduct the same boy just four days earlier, chasing him to the front door of his home just 250 yards from his flat.

His eventual arrest sparked protests outside his property in Oldbury, West Mids - which was run by a housing association which works to help resettle ex-offenders.

Jackson admitted offences of kidnap, false imprisonment, sexual assault and abduction with intent to commit sexual offences in November 2011.

He also admitted a further charge of child abduction - relating to a separate incident two months earlier when an 11-year-old girl was abducted.

Before he was sentenced, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard harrowing impact statements from the families of Jackson’s young victims.

In her statement, the boy’s mother said: “I feel like our lives have been turned upside down. We all feel like we can’t trust anyone any more.”

Debi Gould, prosecuting, said Jackson put a pillow case over his victim’s head and told him he would never see his mother again.

She said: “Nobody in this court can imagine the terror of such an experience for such a little boy.”

Judge Martin Walsh said Jackson must serve at least seven years before being eligible to apply for parole - but said he may never been freed.

"The facts of this case are truly horrific and are the stuff of every parent’s nightmare,” he said.

"I’m satisfied that had (the 10-year-old boy) not escaped, he would have been subjected to further serious sexual abuse or worse.

"He was, fortuitously, able to escape from the cupboard.

"When he entered the bedroom, he saw a knife, pliers and a hammer - articles he believed would be used to kill him.

"It is simply impossible to imagine the sheer terror experienced by that young child as a result of your actions.

"You will only be released if the parole board are satisfied that you no longer pose a serious risk to children.

"It is likely to be very many years, if ever, before you are released back in to the community.”

Jackson, who used to be called Albert English, has a criminal history stretching back to 1976 with 20 convictions for 73 offences.

Although most are dishonesty offences such as fraud, theft or burglary, they include two similar sexual assaults from the early 1980s.

In 1981 he was given a two-year probation order after taking a woman off the street to a secluded building and molesting her.

In 1983, he lured a 13-year-old girl into his flat with the offer of stroking his puppy before grabbing her at knifepoint and tying her up with her own roller boot laces.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Booth, from West Midlands Police, said last September’s attack was the most distressing case he had ever investigated.

He said: “To see Michael Jackson finally sentenced for these horrific and hugely distressing crimes provides great satisfaction to all concerned.

"In all my 28 years of police service I have never dealt with another case such as this, where a man has snatched an innocent child off the streets in broad daylight.

"The boy should only have been gone from home for a matter of minutes but his short journey to the local shop turned into something far more sinister.

"This incident had a massive impact on the child, a second victim who came forward shortly after, and the wider community.”

IPP has been abolished now, however people allready serving ipp's continue to do so, there is an uproar about it at the moment.
These people get an easy time in prison, the prison service class them as sick.
And the protection they get inside from the screws is unreal.
They should just give him a needle and be done with it! at least there would be no chance of him ever hurting anyone again. and would be cheaper on us taxpayers BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY.

The screws as you call them hate them as much as we do, but it is their job to protect all inmates , believe me they have no love for them.
trust me on this one, doors get left open and chances are even if he went straight in to the vpu on his first night he would of got a bit of a slapping.
