A cancer patient caught driving his new Ferrari at more than 100mph on the M5 in Devon has been banned from driving.
Gordon Whitworth, from Chester, had only owned the car for three weeks when he was caught doing 106mph near Cullompton in September.
Exeter Magistrates' Court was told 62-year-old Whitworth had adjusted the steering wheel and could not see the speedometer's needle.
He was banned for two weeks because he needs a car to go for cancer treatment.
Phillippa Jefferies, defending, told the court: "He doesn't want to call an ambulance because that could be used by someone in greater need.
"He does rely on his car."
Whitworth was also ordered to pay £325 in fines and costs.
