Ive seen this on Facebook - look what it did for the XMas number 1!!!

Facebook has power!!!

You also have to ask what is the reason for the march, knowing that it will only cause uproar [Linked Image]

i can understand the point the Muslim group is trying to make - that a lot of stuff in Afghanistan goes unseen, conveniently unreported by British/US media.

Picking Wootton Bassett though. Only going to cause even more hatred towards Muslims in this country. Which is probably what they weren't trying to do. Then again, do they care? After all, every infidel who doesn't believe in Allah is apparently expendable...

If you would put this point of view directly to a squaddie fair enough, he would probably disabuse as to who is doing a lot of stuff. The Army has Rules of Engagement and they generally stick to them very closely but sometimes shit happens, as in real life everywhere. You can bet that the squaddies aren't going around slitting peoples throats and cutting off ears, noses and such like. If they don't like it here and the way we do things they can always sod off to one of their own Muslim countries, there are enough to pick from. If you are over here then it's our train set and you play by our rules, if not bugger off to where you will be happier. They are supposed to be here because we are more tolerant anyway, it's them who are totally intolerant and stirring the shoit.

Very true. We take for granted our living conditions and turn a blind eye to the suffering and damage we have caused over there. Its a shame that it comes down to these marches but I do belive that we need, as a nation to wake up and realise that we actually are the bad guys in afgan...why are we there in the first place?

I could go on for hours with explinations and theories but I really cba so I'll leave a link to a really good documentry explaining the truth of the whole matter.

Just watched the Imam and it is typical. They turn your own beliefs against yourself, democracy should allow their march. These are the same people carry out horrendous punishments on their own people in the name of religion. Don't forget what the Taliban were doing in Afghanistan before we went out there. I do agree that we shouldn't have bothered in the first place and should have left them to get on with it and wipe each other out but some politicians have conciences. I don't think that the Afghans are worth one British Squaddies life myself but I'm not in charge. The demo is an insult though and shouldn't be allowed.

Apparently, breaking news, the Home Secretary said he would ban the march and the PM said it is appalling to hear of a march.
Posted By: bert1 Re: Lets hope this is stopped - 4th Jan 2010 6:41pm
Lets hope that is correct and the decent thing is being done.

If I lived nearer, id be taking part laugh

And if they ban it, what did my Grandad and his comrades fight for exactly? So much for liberty. It's being planned as a peaceful protest, there is no reason to ban it.

The government need to learn some respect - not everyone agree's with the war. Unless they want to start sliding down the slippy road to Communism or Nazi-socialism.

A lot of people I have spoke to agree with my point of view regarding the war - they may be the minority, but why must we be the silent minority? If the BNP are allowed to both operate and protest, then there is absolutely no way should this march ever be stopped (so long as it is planed to be peaceful).

Its like a "UP YOURS" to the honor of our services abroad. They SHOULD allow it to go ahead BUT close Woolton Bassett down...close all shops, pubs and no-one go out into the streets, no press, no nothing, shut the place down and let them waste their time! Would do it for me!!!
AND organise a BNP march, same day, same street etc...Sit back and watch the firewoeks!!
Think it is discusting that they even have the nerve to try and tarnish this good town that has become famous for the wrong reason, the return of our fallen!!!
And they march for democracy and freedom... Let the fookers go back to their mud huts and see how much democracy and freedom they get over there!!!! somad

you are entitled to your opinion matt, that's what your grandad did it for, however, he did not fight so that this country could be turned into a caliphate and so that sharia law should hold sway on the streets of uk. what would your mum and sisters look like in a burkha? If something isn't done before we are outnumbered in this country then you are going to find out. I personally can see civil war looming, shades of Nocker, because we are allowing our own culture, laws and way of life to be subsumed by an alien lifestyle. Look around you and take a view a bit more to right of your present stance. It was only last week you wanted to kill all fat people.

Matts dilema....A fat muslim!!!! LOL
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Lets hope this is stopped - 5th Jan 2010 5:45pm
Please don't make false statements to try and make me look a fool... I quite clearly stated that fat people should take responsibility for their own actions and I think it is disgusting how people like myself, with congenital conditions, have to wait 9 months+ for an appointment to see a specialist, due to the NHS being clogged up with clinically obese people who by being so fat, are causing their health problems and relying on the NHS to fix them. The direct reason for this, was because I suggested that I supported any effort the government can make to try and get this country fit and healthy.

Personally, I feel there is a slight tinge of BNP coming through some members, and for that reason, I can't even be bothered to comment any further. The BNP to me, is very much a modern Nazi party, and the Muslim community is viewed by their supporters, and others, in very much the same way as the Jewish peoples were viewed in the early 1900's by western Europe (it wasnt just Germany or the Nazi's, they were persecuted, hated and unfairly targetted by the general population and the media in the UK as well), and what happened under Nazi-ism must never be allowed to happen ever again, nor condoned in any way.

It wasnt at you mate, I just needed to re-iterate that I never said kill all fat people lol. What I said, could be interpreted as that, but we all know it wasnt the case, and the point I was making was not that at all.

A major part of British budget is taken up dealing with drug related crime and drug related health problems. Afghanistan is a baddy in that it is still a major exporter of drugs. So who is the good guy and who is the bad guy?
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Lets hope this is stopped - 5th Jan 2010 6:03pm
But the government have cited so many different "sole" reasons for being in Afghanistan, it is getting beyond a joke. They don't even know why they are there themselves, a fact illustrated on Question Time back in November, when the Labour representative could not give a difinitive answer as to why, and kept changing the reason etc. The rest of the panel were struggling to pinpoint an exact reason to be there, and quite amusingly, listed the various reasons that have been stated by Labour over the years.

As for what we can achieve... well the Russians spent 10 years trying to sort out Afghanistan, with over half a million soldiers, and all they had to show for it was ~15,000 soldiers killed, a massive blackhole in their military budget and left the place in ruins, but pretty much having achieved nothing. What makes people believe that the UK and US can do any better?
Posted By: diggingdeeper Re: Lets hope this is stopped - 5th Jan 2010 6:13pm
True Matt, just saying IMHO the drugs export justifies some of our involvement.

Just trying to remember the Olympics fracas when Russians were sorting out Afghanistan. I know the BBC made a broadcast saying and showing the Afghans weren't in (front of) the opening parade at mid-day news, but by the evening news they corrected it.
Posted By: bert1 Re: Lets hope this is stopped - 5th Jan 2010 6:36pm
Its Nato forces deployed in Afghanistan under a mandate, though the brunt of it is taken by US and the British, the difference between our and US forces is that they are professional service people unlike the conscripted Russian forces, it was well documented at the time the Russian conscripted army wasn't up for it. Also the majority of people in Afghan were against Russian occupation, Also the Russians had to take on most tribes and warlords who were backed by the west. The main difference between Nato and the Russians is we in the west want them to have free and democratic elections and the Russian wanted to keep the communist regime in place. Once the Taliban took over and their brand of religion and government was set in place, and the atrocities that was going on, the free nations of this world could not sit back and do nothing. It was only a matter of time until the UN and Nato got involved.

I thought once the 2 giant Buddha carvings were blown up that the West would get involved. At the same time they were executing people in market places for minor law infringements (Sharia law that is.) As for the Russians being defeated....it goes back a lot further than that. The Pashtun are a warrior caste and they have a fierce pride, but basically they follow whichever warlord is offering the best deal and swap sides in an instant for purely mercenary reasons, always have done, always will do. To try and foist a democratic system on them is a total waste of time because they will always revert to historical type. It's tough on those who want to change but really it is not our business. The drug war is but that can only be won with the co-operation of the Afghans and the pouring of millions of pounds or whatever to buy them off (that's their idea of democracy). As for me being BNP, do me a favour. I've lived in too many foreign lands, amongst too many foreign people for that crap but I wasn't trying to subvert their way of life I joined in with their way of life and enjoyed it.
