'Fir tree' removed from man's lung

A five centimetre section of fir tree has been removed from a man's lung, Russian surgeons claim.

Doctors were investigating a suspected tumour in Artyom Sidorkin's lung, when they were surprised by a very different kind of trouble.

Surgeon Vladimir Kamashev said he was astonished, but botanist Olga Baranova was sceptical. Juliet Dunlop reports.

They say tree's are the lungs of the earth, maybe this one got a little bit mixed up. was he operated on by a tree surgeon, was it a special branch of surgery, have i planted the seed for more puns.

funny how my nan always warned not to eat apple seeds, joking that a tree might grow in your belly!
