Eleanor Rigby's signature sold for £115,000 - 29th Nov 2008 1:30am
A 1911 salary register containing the name Eleanor Rigby has been sold by a Cumbrian woman for £115,000.
The document had been sent to Annie Mawson, of Greystoke, by Sir Paul McCartney a number of years ago.
Feeling this was a clue to the origins of the Beatles’ song, she put it up for auction with the money going to the Sunbeams Music Trust.
