had this myself when kyle was born. as me and gail were not married at the time i was told i had no parental responsibility over him even tho we lived together. this was a nightmare when i took him to hospital as i couldnt sign for him to have treatment...

It should already be compulsary imho, it can cause problems for fathers and children alike when the fathers name isnt present on the birth certificate.

Mind you, with so many slags around nowadays, it could be hard for them to implement this rule as most don't know who the father is, just pick at random like a lottery for the named father lol.
