Should anyone be interested, The Pensby Hotel demolition was begun today.

It may need to have the update put on another thread somewhere. (like Pubs)

Past it today--big machine eating it away. Old gent taking some photos for posterity sake. Not sure whats planned other than old folks home...but there seems to be a new planning application just for the demolition so they may be leaving options open.

Wouldnt it be good if they could turn the space into Council one bedroom flatlets as theres such a shortage . Pity they probably cant afford to buy the land.

The planning application for the old folks home was turned down on two counts, the loss of the hotel and the architectural design of the new building.

They do not need planning permission to demolish the hotel (just need to give notification), in doing so this would remove one of the counts that the planning permission was turned down on and increase their chances with a new application.

Same story with many planning apps knocked back by Wirral but the past by the Planning Inspectorate. Wirral BC come out of it smelling of roses having initially rejected it.

Personnaly think it was quite an ugly building but shame its another landmark gone..bye bye history.

What do we reckon. Lidl ? new build Nursery?

Wirral Planning still has the decision as refused - looks like they distance themselves from appeals, they have even removed the tab that used to display appeals you have to go to "related cases" now to find the appeal.
