A 60-YEAR-OLD man has died after his car crashed into a fence in Birkenhead this afternoon.

Police were called to Dock Road, near Hickman's Road at around midday.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a blue Fiat Seicento, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His family have been informed and a post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death.

The road was closed while collision investigators attended.
