Since it has been publicised that both tunnels are closed and the ferry not sailing, alternatively going to Liverpool is by the trains at Hamilton Square. Does anyone know if the Arriva buses are also going on strike or plan to?

Arriva drivers wont be going on strike. Neither will First, Avon or any of the others. All Liverpool-bound buses will instead drop people off at Hamilton Square Station.

I don't fancy being down there at rush hour. The barrier staff at Hamilton Square may have to limit people passing through as there are strict safety limits.

The Mersey Tunnels will only be open to emergency service vehicles from 0000 to 2359 on the 30th.

When regarding safety limits, is that so you dont freak out all of the drunkards and druggies that meet up around the hamilton square area?

The station only has a certain capacity as specified by the Health & Safety Executive. This could possibly be exceeded on Wednesday.

Plus given what happened to the girl at James Street recently, staff are understandably bing extra careful.

Would be better to use another station other than hamilton square if you can ,if you have a certain PASS though you will have to use Hamilton Square

All the enterances will have been coned off. The cones will only be removed for emergency service vehicles. Anyone trying to crash through will almost certainly be nicked.

I think the Tunnel Police are also on strike / not working that day, so the health and safety bods have said that the tunnel cant be open as there is noone there to deal with an emergency.
