I'm tempted to pop down but it's raining, the shoulder's fubar'd and I'd have to get a taxi back as I can't carry shopping and walk. And there's me thinking a decent supermarket on the doorstep would save me money
randon question sorry but does anyone know if this new morrisons store has a cafe?
Thanks Phil
Bit of a shame that because i usually have a bite to eat in the West Kirby and Netherley Morrisons when i shop there.
Yeah its got a big cafe in it much bigger than west kirby even got a trolley park in it where ya can park your shopping lock it up and have a bite to eat, cheap as chips as well was doing a roaring trade on the brekkies this morning
No petrol thou which I was a bit disappointed about

Oops sorry Steve... I was just going off the lack of a knife and fork picture on the website...
cheers Chris nice one
I'll look forward to road testing that cafe soon

Yep would have welcomed a bit of a fuel war between Morrisons and Tesco...
Also Tesco were trying to keep their customers loyal with a 'You can spend your Morrisons vouchers here' thing...

lol no probs Phil, they're under-selling themselves on that website, someone should update it
A bit of fuel competition would be great for sure!
I drove into Tescos Bidston Moss earlier today and parked across the roundabout/junction not far from Bidston train station is one of those vans with a big "Morrisons New Brighton Now Open" board attached so looks like they're trying to nick as many customers as possible..
Yeah defo missed a trick with petrol station given the lack of any others around the wallasey new brighton area. I saw that van driving past asda in liscard also last week advertising opening date etc

We did well not on deliberate (did not see post till now) the other half went on ahead why I got the little one in the trolly. So she got two and I did
but we never used are heads when we got to till. Should of split shopin up in to two and would of got ten of instead of five pounds.
five pounds off is better than none
Morrisons is so much better than Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury's for their meat etc so I'm excited to try this place out. I reckon I could be a regular down there when I'm cooking a meal on a Friday or Saturday night.
Is there a limited time I can get their vouchers?

All gone mate, just been in there & got the last ones, sorry.

Just got an error message when replying to this saying the thread had been deleted?
Maybe a forum problem.
I agree on the meat & fish front Alex! I've worked out it's roughly a 60-75min walk from mine to there based on how long it takes me to walk to Somerfield/Co-Op.
Does anyone know what time the cafe shuts? I only ask as I prefer to shop of an evening when there's few pensioners and brats, but if they're feeding the little buggers for free, it's going to be heaving with them

What I said was I am glad that those that need the vouchers more ended up with them.
Jax, I'm only a few mins from you so please give me a text if you fancy a shop and I'll come with you. You don't need to walk there and back.

Awww cheers hon, but I can't let you do that. I wouldn't walk back anyway, can't carry shopping so it'd be a taxi job
Mum's just rang to say she's on a course with work tomorrow so finishes early and will take me
Thanks sweet'art
Anyway, you don't answer your texts
Nice one al, that's very thoughtful of you

*Before anyone gets all high & mighty and jumps on the "oh I'm so offended at that comment" outrage bus, I can say it because I am one
Lol, I agree with that as I had the same attitude with the "smokers are disgusting" comment in another thread

For me the morrisons in new Brighton is out there on a limb and I won't normally go past it. I will give it go if I'm at new Brighton anyway but it won't be for a few weeks once all the excitement has died down and you can actually move in there.
Not been in yet, might pop down towards the end of the week, the one in West Kirby does my head in to small and fall of OAPs lol.
Talking of new supermarkets the new Asda is Birkenhead does not look that big inside, walked past the front today and saw inside, it looks smaller then Woodchurch.
we went in about 7 after taking the dog for a walk got some meat found it reasonable, the chicago town pizzas were only 99p bit cheaper than cool trader
At the West Kirby Morrison's (which I agree is rather on the crowded side!) after about 7pm they start to mark down the prices on fresh stuff like pies, pasties from the bakery etc. You can pick up great bargains if you go early evening. Having said that, the WK one closes at 8pm; not sure when NB one closes so that might affect bargain time.
Has anyone realized how narrow the doors are at Morrisons - me thinks they are scary. Not enough room for those on motorized scooters. I also thought that Morrisons would be bigger than it actually is. Not looking forward to the Christmas Crush!!

10pm new brighton one shuts, i still go to west kirby one at 8:15 for cheap pies lol. west kirby one is open till 9 now
I will be walking down Atherton Road and walking up with my trolley doing the green shop! And also keeping fit. Fed up with the other supermarkets.

First thing I said when we went was the door ways could of been bigger.. But i thought the shop it self is a good size....
Yes, the doorway does get congested and there is no taxi rank so they park up at the drop off point instead

Is that not normal?
Went today and we said the doors were far to small for the size of the shop, but apart from that thought it was so much better then West Kirby our area of the store is tiny!

Cant wait for the Seacombe one to open on the 31st October
Hope we get a fresh meat counter! When the building was a Kwik Save, the space seemed to be far better utilised than Netto ever managed.
I have a 'perve' when i pass, to look at the refurb. developments. Theres chest freezers on the back wall, where the pet stuff used to be and the tills seem furthur forward, than when it was Netto.
Haven't been in there yet
Spoken to my mate and she reckons that its very good and prices and good
Will have to pop down in the week

I'm sure it will be 100% better then netto no matter how it looks
I don`t think they will sell the same producuce at the Seacombe branch that they do in New Brighton one. How many Seacombe residents will want to buy fresh octopus or Italian parma ham. No, more like plenty of mushy peas, fish fingers and chips at the Seacombe one
About the same amount as people from New Brighton do.
FWIW, I think Morrisons is great.

Tescos are the same. The one in Heswall has more of the niche upmarket foods than Bidston. Bidston has a much wider "value" range. The stock is tailored to the demographic of the area the store is in. Although I think the difference between the New Brighton and Seacome Morrisons will be purely down to the huge size difference between the two shop floors.

Don't paint all Seacombe residents with the same brush!
Ignorant, stereotypical people everywhere, hun! Just ignore.

It bloody annoys me, Yes mostly Seacombe residents are the stereotypical council estate type, but then there are the someone us who work our arses off too enjoy the finer' things of life!
I live in Seacombe. Generally, the people are sound-i certainly get No Grief!
And get this-I don't eat fooking Octopus-however i use my professional skills and training to assist people wherever they hail from!
And that includes gobby, judgemental Grrrs.
Look forward to our next meet, babe xx
Who puts here here instead of hear hear, as its just not done so i believe.
Yeah, it's 'hear hear' which comes from parliament and is short for 'hear him, hear him' and just signals agreement.
Thanks alex, easy mistake when not thinking quick as i knew i was hear hear really.
Indeed. Not really something you write all that often so easily done.
It's like bare/bear with me as well, you hardly ever have to type it.
It was my phone, it automatically changes words.
Nice try mate! But the iPhone will not change hear hear to here here!

Try implying at least
some.
Yes, I agree. I`m afraid its a fact that the demographic of New Brighton is going to be different to that of Seacombe. Just as the east side of the Wirral is different to that of the west side. Any sensible retail business will have done its research and will know that. They may need to make some tweeks along the line but they will have a pretty clear picture as to who cooks and eats what and where
My wife & I decided to have our lunch in Morrisons cafe yesterday. The steak & ale pie was really nice, but I was really p****d off at being charged 8 pence each for 3 sachets of brown sauce. This is pure rip off.
Bob.

I totally agree! We're not all fully paid up members of the fish, chips and mushy peas brigade I'll have you know! Actually, I have to say I'm rather impressed with the new Morrisons in Seacombe, sensibly laid out brightly lit store, pleasant well trained staff, a wide range of goods which seem cheaper than the New Brighton shop and the added bonus of the place not stinking of fish! Much better than the Tesco express too which is merely a glorified off license selling cheap booze.
I had chips with it. Anyway, what's wrong with brown sauce on a pie ?

The Co-op in Trafalgar Road closed on the same day. Was it part of a bigger plan?
It certainly doesn't help those who can't walk too far. Nearest Morrisons is a mile and a half away, either way.
went shopping with the mother and found that the different cuts and selections of meat were ideal. being one who likes to cook different meals, the shops in seacombe have been pretty limited for my enthusiasm. hopefully the one in seacombe will also cater for people who do not cook instant ready meals via oven and microwave, nor just a vast selection of ready frozen stuff
I went there for the first time on Sunday. I don't know what all the fuss was about. It certainly is not the cheapest place to shop and I am not comparing it to Aldi, Lidi prices, Tesco beats it hands down it for pretty much all the stuff I usually buy. One common theme I noticed was that instead of having a lot of alternative lower priced budget ranges of products like Tescos does, you have no choice but to pay for the more expensive ranges a lot of the time.
Edit: I'm referring to the New Brighton one.
The pictures of old New Brighton in the foyer are interesting. Apparently New Brighton once had a "peir".
anyone know the opening times for the new one where netto was?
8am-8pm. 10 to 4 on a Sunday.
thanks hun xx think I'll popin on the way home tomorrow
