Bingo! Market hopes putting the fun back into shopping will hit the jackpot

Eyes down, look in!

Wirral shoppers are being given the chance to stop off for a spot of Bingo from today.

Birkenhead Market is encouraging people to get their eyes down in between shopping as part of a new project.

For just 20p, shoppers can have a game of traditional bingo for the chance to win vouchers to use within the market.

They've brought in a classic unit from the North East seaside resort of Bridlington - complete with the market's own Bingo caller - to make the experience as authentic as possible.

Manager Danny Doyle believes the idea will be a success.

Mr Doyle said: “The idea came to me because I think the element of fun needs to be put back in to shopping.

"It shouldn’t just be about getting there and back as quickly as you can, you should be able to enjoy the whole experience.

"I think it will go down really well once people are walking past and seeing what fun players are having.

“We have lots more ideas in the pipeline and this is just the beginning. People should come down and give it a try.”

So whether you're Made in Heaven - 67 - or a Dancing Queen - 17 - you can get Up to Tricks - 46 - at Birkenhead Market. (That's enough Bingo calls, Ed)

THE GLOBE
Hope you get a locker to put your shopping in whilst playing, this is Birkenhead after all!

Are they mad, meccabingo is a stones throw away...And look at the size of the guys arms in the pic raftl

They would do better and make parking cheaper and easier and get rid of half the clothing stalls, get the manager to go and have a look at the makeup of Widnes and Ellesemere port markets to see how to run a market and carparks that people WANT to go to and visit, seeing there's a bingo across the way why bother.
tadaaaaaarr
