Fire crews called to blazes in Ellesmere Port and Wirral




FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze in Ellesmere Port in the early hours of this morning.

Hundreds of wooden pallets caught fire at a business premises on Cromwell Road.


Crew Manager Neil Smith, from Ellesmere Port, who attended with firefighters from Chester, described the scene as “like a big bonfire”, and told the ECHO nobody was hurt.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was due to be launched this morning.





FIRE crews from Bromborough and Birkenhead were called to tackle a blaze at a fuel distribution plant in Wirral.


A tank containing scrap metal and chemicals at the NuStar plant in Eastham caught fire.

Specialist cooling devices were used to make the area around the tank safe so the fire could be put out yesterday at around lunchtime.
