We'll have to recall and replace all the bins now...

'NO BOMBS'
Carnt be too over cautious but who would want to bomb the tip?
Maybe no one knew what it was?
Probably a dud from a school project lol.

Lookout Wheels, they are comming to get you.........
deffo suspect device just read in the globe
The suspect item, which was identified as an illume mortar - or "illumination mortar round" used in battle to turn night into daytime - had been spent but some remnants of explosive remained.
For safety, the round was disposed of in a controlled explosion.
It is not believed that the illumination mortar dated as back far as World War II, although it was obsolete.
The recycling centre has been reopened.

It is a strange story, with so many unanswered questions. Surprised the bloody thing didn't go off when the person chucked it over the wall, into the skip!!!
it will be some one elderly relative has been storing it in their house when they've died there relatives come out the woodwork looking for the loot but found bombs instead

Not necessary the grey bin stuff, could have been one of the small wagons that collect rubbish out of the jiggers
Flaming hell, thats still worrying!! Person who "disposed" it is very ignorant and/or stupid. Would love to be a fly on the wall when he or she reads the Globe tomorrow.
Being that dumb i doubt he /she can read
I have one of these in my collection....No im not missing one!!!!
They can have a parachute connected to slow down their descent and illuminate the night sky!
