Just heard someone was killed earlier today at Lairds in the Con Hall working on the Aircraft Carrier build, apparently he was crushed by a fork lift truck.

Was in there this afternoon and all seemed normal! needs further investigation!

update - worker is in intensive care fighting for his life so good vibes needed to go his way. broken neck, punctured lung, ribs cracked and kidneys ruptured so he needs all the good spinks he can get. At least he is alive.

Are people aware that a worker from Vauxhalls died recently , after having an accident the day before the 3 week shutdown?

He had a works accident in the paint shop on the thursday before the shutdown , and died about a week later at the Countess of Chester...very sad.The HSE are investigating at the moment.

update - very sad news, the man in question who was injured at Lairds last week has passed away from his injuries.

Cammell Laird launch investigation



AN investigation has been launched after an employee died after an incident at the Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead.

The company has launched a detailed investigation with the police and Health & Safety Executive into the incident.

The results of this investigation will be available in due course.

A spokesman for Cammell Laird said: "The company wishes to express its condolences and our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time."
