Andrew Hunter, a former teacher at South Wirral High School in Eastham and a choir master at St Mary's Church, Walton, was due for sentence but a pre-sentence report was not ready.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty at an earlier court hearing to six sex offences and one of possessing 10 indecent photographs of children.

He has admitted sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl on May 30, 2008, and four similar offences involving a 15-year-old girl between December 1, 2007, and April 30, 2008.

Hunter, of Rosemary Lane, Formby, has also pleaded guilty to inciting the 15-year-old to engage in sexual activity between October 1 and November 30, 2007.

He has denied inciting the younger girl to engage in sexual activity and two charges of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of the other youngster via a webcam, and those charges are to be dropped.

Judge John Phipps said he accepted that it was no fault of Hunter's that the pre-sentence report had not been prepared and he further remanded him on bail until February 12.

"All sentencing options will be open," he warned him.

Hunter is already subject to an interim Sex Offenders Register order.

Hunter has now been dismissed from his post as a music teacher, said Wirral Council.

A spokeswoman said: "Governors at South Wirral High School acted immediately when these offences were brought to their attention.

"The offences were not connected to the school in any way."

THE GLOBE
sik or what how they get these jobs and are involved with churches and they do such vile things!!
Its a gross abuse of a trusted position, and I guess it just goes to show that the enhanced CRB is not even worth the paper it is printed on. It only checks for previous convictions, it can only check what people have actually been caught for...

He'll like prison then - plenty of sexual activity to be had there grin

That's all any check for any position can be, in any walk of life, can't check a record if someone hasn't got one, but at least it stops previous offenders working amongst children. Before its induction i shudder to think who was working amongst our children.

I remember when I was in school we had a really dodgy CDT teacher. One girl claimed he'd run his hands up her legs when she'd gone in the 'wood' cupboard. omg

Wirral teacher Andrew Hunter in court for molesting two teenage girls

A TEACHER and church choirmaster admitted sexually molesting two young girls.

Andrew Hunter, a teacher at a south Wirral secondary school, admitted sexual offences against two teenagers, aged 14 and 15.

Hunter, who is also the choirmaster for a north Liverpool church, also pleaded guilty to possessing child porn.

The 27-year-old, of Rosemary Close, Formby, arrived at Liverpool crown court yesterday prepared to face sentence for a total of seven charges.

Wearing a suit and tie, Hunter spoke only to confirm his name.

The music teacher was supported by about 10 people who filled the public gallery.

Relatives of his victims were also in court for the hearing.

But the case was adjourned after Judge John Phipps heard a pre-sentence report had not yet been completed.

He warned Hunter: "All sentencing options are open to me, but the fact there is no report is certainly not your fault."

The judge adjourned the hearing until February 12. He granted Hunter bail on the condition not to contact his young victims.

Anya Horwood, prosecuting, told the court the Crown Prosecution Service would be applying for a Sexual Offenders’ Prevention Order for Hunter, who it is understood also gave organ recitals at Formby’s Methodist Church.

When Hunter previously appeared at the court in December he was charged with a total of 10 offences.

He pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl on May 30, 2008, four charges of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl and a further charge of inciting that teenager to engage in sexual activity between December 1, 2007, and April 30, 2008.

Hunter also admitted a further charge of possessing obscene images of children from July 11, 2009.

But he denied three of the allegations, one count of inciting a child to sexual activity and two charges of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child using a web-cam, between October 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007.

Those charges are now to be dropped.

Following the previous hearing Hunter was subjected to an interim Sex Offenders’ Register order.

In the wake of yesterday’s court appearance, a Wirral council spokesman confirmed Hunter no longer worked at the school.

He said: "Hunter has now been dismissed from his post as a music teacher.

"Governors acted immediately when these offences were brought to their attention."
