Cops launch campaign to make Wirral post offices safer during festive rush

Police have joined forces with post offices across Wirral to launch a Safer Post Office initiative.

The aim is to prevent crime and create safer neighbourhoods during the busy run up to Christmas and New Year.

Neighbourhood teams have adopted post offices across Wirral and each post office branch will be "twinned" with their local police officer.

Designated officers will make regular visits to their post office branch, provide high visible patrols in the area and available to offer crime prevention advice.

Officers will also be working closely with sub postmasters to offer advice and guidance on security issues in order to deter criminals.

Detective Constable Chris O’Connor said: “The festive period is one of the busiest times of the year for post offices and these are used by everyone in our communities, from pensioners and families to local businesses.

"Officers will be regularly patrolling the area and on hand to talk and listen to as many people as possible over this period."
