Weekend fundraiser to help injured soldiers




A FUNDRAISING day for soldiers injured while serving in Afghanistan and Iraq takes place this weekend.

The Help For Heroes funday will be held on Saturday, August 1, at The Swan Hotel in Woodchurch Road, Prenton. It starts at 1pm.

Among the entertainment will be Soldiers of Fuzz and BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Billy Butler.

Representatives from both the army and 4th Battalion Parachute Regiment will also be in attendance.

There will also be a number of stalls and raffles.

Help For Heroes provides support for soldiers and other servicemen and women both directly and through its support of other service charities.

That's good to see. Let's hope it is well supported. Nice it's being launched at the Swan. That was my old local! (Remember Bent's Bitter ? Maybe best forgotten)

As with anything like this good cause, beware the scumbag slimes of this world, who no doubt will be going door to door with a collecting tin claiming they represent Help The Heroes. Like the wobbly chimneys/tarmac boys, someone is always poised to grab such an opportunity.
