Crown Princess makes her debut as Mersey’s biggest cruise liner


THE largest cruise liner ever to grace Liverpool glided into the city’s Cruise Liner Terminal.

The arrival of the 116,000-ton Crown Princess this morning was further proof the city is fast regaining its rightful place as one of the world’s top ports, not only for cargo, but also passenger traffic.

Such was the success of last year’s “round Britain” cruises by Grand Princess, which called at Liverpool, her owner, Princess Cruises, decided to put the 20% larger Crown Princess on the voyages this year.

The 10-year-old ship carries 3,080 mainly US passengers.

They will visit Liverpool, or take tours to the Lake District, North Wales and the Potteries.

The Crown Princess is due to depart from the liner terminal at 7pm.
