A 26-year-old man is in hospital after being stabbed repeatedly by a group of men in a Liverpool street.

Merseyside Police said the victim was walking along Castlegate Grove, West Derby, when he was set upon.

He suffered a number of stab wounds to his back and sides in the attack and is now in a stable condition in hospital.

Detectives believe the man was targeted after getting into an argument earlier on Sunday evening. Forensic teams are examining the scene.

House-to-house inquiries are also being carried out and patrols stepped up in the area to reassure the community.

Merseyside Police are appealing for information about the attack, which happened in the early hours of Monday.

Its getting worse and worse. They need to make the law for people who use knifes strikter, for exampole, if you are caught with a blade, no matter what the size (with in reason) and you cant proove why you have it......instand jail, as I cant think of any genuine reason to need one.

Does any one here pick up a knife on their way out of the house ????
