Loaded gun found on West Derby golf course - 20th Jan 2009 4:58pm
A GOLFER found a loaded gun buried in a bunker at a Liverpool course.
The revolver was found wrapped in a plastic bag on the ninth hole at West Derby Golf Club.
The golfer spotted the bag poking out of the sand as he was about to take a bunker shot on the par three hole at the Yew Tree Lane course.
He pulled the bag out of the bunker and was horrified to find the gun and a number of bullets inside.
The ninth hole runs down the outside of the course close to a public footpath.
Police were called and the gun is undergoing forensic tests to see if it is linked to any shootings.
A Merseyside police spokeswoman said: “We are appealing for information after a firearm was recovered at West Derby golf course on Wednesday, January 14.
