A MERSEYSIDE police constable has quit the force after testing positive for cocaine.

PC Paul Draper resigned after collapsing at a party thrown at his Garston home.

Draper, 28, was taken to hospital by ambulance after taking the class A drug.

Friends called paramedics after he started having a fit.

When doctors discharged him last Tuesday he was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug.

Draper, who comes from a police family, handed in his resignation within days.

Because he was a serving officer at the time of the alleged offence a decision on whether to charge Draper must be made outside Merseyside.
