Finally fit my 2.0 MAF and Airbox havin been saying id do it for AGES!.

Had to modify it abit but theres NO leaks or anything but what i have noticed is when i 1st start it up, she has a 'lumpy' idle.

after a few mins of me watching how it acted it settled down so i took it for a 'testdrive' and it was fine - then again after turning it off for 2mins and starting up again she was a little lumpy for a few secs then settle yet again.

I am sure this is just the ECU getting used to the new component and taking time to configure, and awhile ago i was told to disconnect my battery for 1hr or so, reconnect and allow the ECU to reset and calibrate - Is it worth me doing this or do you think it'll settle down by the next time I go out?

Re-Set the ECU mate, if theres no leaks ect it should be fine happy

Disconnect the batt for 24hrs mate and it will definately lose its memory so it will reconfig on startup. Maybe take it to ford and get it mapped. My bro has said he will Remap my ECU for performance on the ford machine.Costs £80 tho and he cant do it on the sly cos of my car.Bit obvious ur doin it lol

why not get team ford to put project minmoto on hold and all chip in for a bluefin. £300 bargin.

Dont do Bluefin for the Escort! A Unichip is on its way soon enough for me, Live mapped to my engines spec and gives me a dyno-proven 160BHP at the wheels.

I still have this problem after re-setting ECU but its b'cos i have a slight airleak at side of MAF sensor

your car will run a bit lumpy at idle if your still useing the 1.6 ecu as it is running in closed loop (cant adjust at idle) iv got a ecu tunning program im going to try adjusting the closed loop setings when i get the cables for it ( i have a spare ecu) if it works il let you know

Thanx - This post was awhile ago and iv found that no matter how much I 'fiddle' with it it wont work. Iv now opted for the 1.6MAF and 1.6 Sensor on a closedfilter (Pipercross Viper).

Change the hall sensor in the distributor for a different one (or if it's easier, change the whole dizzy unit). These are proper pains that can throw everything out when the ECU or ignition components are changed.

try the DEEP ecu in it!! i know all the escort people say it wont work, but the fiesta people that do it say it works tease
