HELP......
When i drive round in town within the 20-30 milean hour region. and then brake to turn a corner put it into second, the engine light comes on then everything cuts out except the radio. i turn the car and it starts again like nothing happened. not a big problem really only when uit happens in the middle of a roundabout. and remeber i have powersterring so if it cuts and wont start i cant just vere to the side of the road.
help help help

It could be a number of things mate, first thing is probably the idle speed control valve, these are prone to play up on your car. The problem is everythink is electronically controlled on your engine.....

Give the Idle control valve a clean. Its happened to me before now

I too am suffering about from the ICV playing up, gives me a lumpy idle at times. After doing reaserch Zetec engines are constantly having idle problems aparently - Just swotting up on it now

When you say everything cuts out, do you lose all electrics or just ignition?

I mean do the headlights flash off etc, or do the ignition lights come on and the car stalls?

a little engine light comes on and the engine light has a little lightning bolt in it and then it kind of stalls

Said this to you before but its the ICV (Idle Control Valve) as aparently there prone to this!

Run some redex threw your system but sounds like you need a new'un and think there £150 from Vauxhall - ill investigate it for you mate

my mate had a 2L cav (not red top) that did the same thing and it was his EGR valve the base had rusted through so it was wobbling side to side

£150!!! and i thought the ford ones were expensive at about £65 + VAT lol. Just picked on up today, got it from Ford to save the hassle since they had it in stock.

Take it out and give it a proper clean with some carb cleaner, and then oil it properly.

If it idles high, undo the locking nut on the bottom, and adjust the idle stop screw. BTW, the jubilee clips face downwards, so you might have to get under the car to undo them, they're a ******* to remove.
