Was chatting to my sisters boyfriend about this last night smile

He gets the same problem on his MGF, and is currently working on a GRP mould which will surround the filter and have a flexi pipe attached as the cold air feed.

This should reduce the risk of warm air being sucked in smile

I had the same problem with my rover! and went to extreme lengths to try and get rid of it!!! I moved my battery all the wat to the boot then re routed the air filter to where the battery was! ready to make a big surround with a few cold air feeds!!! coz thats what an engine loves! but crashed it before I made the surround! lol! im gonna do the same in the next coz I have all the setup ready! u can see what it looked like in my mods section! and here is a pic of it moved over!

I don't like the cone shaped open filter at all. They provide little or no cold air to the engine. The only advantage over panel filters is they're louder, but the panel is closed away in an airbox.

Have you thought about getting a piece of aluminium and shaping it around the filter?

Rob, it'll have to be custom made - I can get some for the Escort for about £8, Checkout the Punto owners club to see if they can help
