I havent an idea but hope your baby comes alive again soon.

There is a lesson learned there.

yeah it was 32 quid! 46 if you dont pay in 14 days! from things ive read on tinernet it sounds like driveshaft has jumped out of diff so they can probably just pop it back in! at least for now! till i get my forged quaife one!

Didn't know your car was RWD Very nice. If the AA wanted a low loader then it's more likely to be a smashed up diff, coz they could've taken the driveshaft right off and towed it that way otherwise.

Hope it's all better soon though mate wink

Got news for you then, I doubt you've even got a drive shaft! They should've been able to tow it if it was anything to do with the front transmission

My astras gearbox is linked to the front half-shafts. No drive shaft anywhere.

Just looked at the links. Those are half shafts mate, but I can see how they'd be confused as being drive shafts. A drive shaft goes down the length of a rwd car to the diff from the gearbox (or transfer box in a 4wd), half shafts are what go across the width from the diff to the wheels in any car.

A Half shaft is a Driveshaft and a Driveshaft is a half shaft.......

Modern term is Driveshaft.

Old School term is a half Shaft

The Prop-shaft is the shaft driving the rear axle on a rear wheel drive vehicle. goes from the gearbox to the axle.

Hope this clears this up ????

Gutted for ya matey anyways, hope its notin serious, Your car is common for the Driveshaft shearing off close to the outer constant velosity joint.
