how hard would it be to put a cossie engine in my fiesta, i have seen it in the mags but wondering if any one knows of the problems it might cause or things i will have to do. i know it runs the opposit way.
also which cossie would be best a siera or escort
just carnt think of any other way to upgrade a fiesta with out changing it
Help
:go:
Do yourself a favour, Buy a Cozzie.......
To put a cosworth engine in a fiesta the whole bodyshell has to be cut in half, reinforced and strengthened and a prop tunnel welded in. The whole suspension and drivetrain has to be custom built to suit and then you can start putting the Cosworth engine in. Also you would have to seriously up-grade your brakes......
Good idea, just seriously expensive and would take approx 3 months solid work from a skilled engineer/technician.......
how about putting an RS Turbo engine into your fiesta instead? same size as the one youve already got.....just faster...and with a turbo. you'd still need to upgrade the brakes and probably the suspension, but it'd cost less than it would to put a cossie engine in there. There are a few RS Turbo Ka's around and they push out about 180bhp, so i cant see any reason why you couldnt do the same to your fiesta <img border="0" alt="[does this help]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions041.gif" />
I've heard the fiesta RS turbo is a handfull anyway,- loads of torque steer etc etc. So cosworth power would be WAAAAY too much
just imagine it u put ur foot down an there wud be no grip just smoke from the tyers!!! lmbo
ok then thats out the window
lmao
cheers guys
wot bout makin it 4WD???? loadsa grip then?
yeah, thats a good idea. have a look here:
http://www.djm-motorsport.co.uk/4wd.htm theyve done loadsa 4wd conversions so they should have a fair bit of experience. the only drawback i can imagine is the cost of getting it done
Sierra cosworths are like £6k,- and Impreza Classics even cheaper, I don't think you'd get a 4x4 conversion and an engine transplant within that cost bracket.
how about this, i know pumaspeed and pumabuild put the 1.7 puma engine into the MK5 fiesta, surely they could put one in yours too!
www.pumaspeed.co.uk or
www.pumabuild.co.uk it'd still make for a fast car and theres no need for a 4wd conversion <img border="0" alt="[smokin]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions036.gif" />
Yeah that would make more sense, as the puma is basically a fiesta.
but hes got a 1.8 si already so wots the point in that!!
just make your fiesta RWD jay
or get N.O.S <img border="0" alt="[are u mad]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions050.gif" />
yer laughing gas seems like a damn fine idea. a 50 shot should be fantastic.
Not all engines take well to NOS,- no idea about the fiesta engine though.
RE: the puma engine, not sure what power the 1.8 fiesta outputs compared to the 1.7 puma,- more CC dosn't always mean more power
what about turbo'ing the 1.8 and strip down the interior and excess bits that arnt a nessesity (spelling) so as well as having more power it'll be lighter to? (therefore aiding speed)
<img border="0" alt="
" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions051.gif" /> i thought his fiesta si was a 1.6....didnt know ya could get 1.8s, but anyway:
the Puma's 1.7 16v with variable cam timing and it pushes out about 125bhp as standard. pumaspeed claim they can get 200bhp out of them with the help of some tuning and mr turbo
his used to be a 1.6 i think, had a transplant an put the 1.8 in
mines the 1.6
On this whole puma speed thing they can do u a cossie puma but it would set you back 30G. However they will put the 1.7 racing puma in for 2G an thats about 155-170 bhp an thats the drive away price which inlcudes labour, gear box, engine an dash. Then theres the 300mm disks which are £329 fitted. plus you can get a powerflow exhaust an a decent air filter with the rest
So for just under £2500 you could easily have around 180bhp.
Plus its a small car an fairly light anyway so youd be keepin up with a fair few things.
Paul
why not go 4 a 2.0 16v vauxhall engine transplant? cheap to get hold of, reliable, and tons of tuning potential. must make some sort of sense to get me to recommend using anything vauxhall...i hate em! but the old 2.0 16v is used in many rally cars...especially mk 2 escorts. try to get some prices and c wot ya think.?!
CHEERS GUYS SO MANY IDEAS, IN CASE YOU WERE CONFUSED MY CAR USED TO BE A 1.6 SI BUT IT ENDED UP IN THE BEACH AND HAS BEEN REBUILT WIV A RS1800 ENGINE, WHICH IS STANDARD 130BHP, I SPOKE TO A GARAGE AND HE RECKONS HE WILL BE ABLE TO ADD A TURBO ON IT WHICH WILL TAKE IT CLOSE TO 160BHP, THEN I HAVE MY BOOST VAVLE AND SUPERCHIP SO HOPEFULLY GET IT MOOVIN.
I CAN SEE COSSIE IDEA WAS SILLY <img border="0" alt="[blonde moment]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions037.gif" />
