I am putting my Scooby in today to have the Nitrous Oxide Fitted, Prior to going in i have just been on a "Test Track" (*Cough *Cough) to obtain some performance times prior to the N.O.S. being fitted therefore i can compare the performance figures when i get the vehicle back all Nossed up

Here are the times and speeds recorded.

Posted By: Anonymous Re: Impreza With Nitrous Oxide - 4th May 2004 12:44pm
what type of set up will it be? just the push button style of that thing where you can set it to come in at so many rev's if you get me?

either way should be fast! (not that it isnt already)

Yeah, I have an adjustable Bleed Valve fitted inside the car to adjust the Boost from the 11 p.s.i. standard Boost to approx 16 p.s.i. Boost.

I am Not uprating any internal engine components at all, Will run on standard engine block etc perfectly well.

The N.O.S. Install is as follows:

 • Streetblaster 100i wet Nitrous Kit.

 • 11 lb Polished Show Bottle.

 • Maximiser (Electronic Progresive Controler)

 • Two N.O.S. Pressure Gauges fitted.

 • Bottle Warmer to maintain the correct operating pressure of the N.O.S.

 • Electronic Pressure control solenoid to control the Bottle Warmer and bottle pressure.

 • Electronic bottle opener

 • N.O.S. Purge Kit (Hopefully)

The N.O.S. will be operated by an "Activation Switch" and a T.P.S. (Throttle Position Switch) so when i open the bottle, activate the switch and have over 3/4 throttle the N.O.S. will flow to the engine. It will NOT come in "One Shot" like you see on the Hyped up films on the Television (Press a botton and goes five times as fast) Basically the Progressive Controller allows a little N.O.S. in at first then after several miliseconds more and more N.O.S. is allowed until it quickly reaches Full Nitrous Injection flow. I am having to start with a 25 B.H.P. Jets for a week to ensure there is no problems and then just before the nationals i am going up to 50 B.H.P. Jets, A week later i am going to 75 B.H.P. Jets and before going to 100 B.H.P. Jets i have to get my car 4-wheel rolling road tuned to ensure everything is running correctly for optimum performance.

I will be running 100 B.H.P. Jets producing a total of 400 B.H.P. from the Scooby

Hmmmmmmmmmm.................

Scooby got N.O.S.

The quality of the install is 100%

massive polished show bottle in the boot all wrapped up wiv me bottle warmer.

Performance is allot better but not as what i expected. Dont get me wrong, the Impreza really moves faster, allot faster, On my way home after picking the car up i popped into my local "Race Track" where i do my testing and got straight to 158 mph within 30 secs or so ! Got up there allot faster than normal. Just want a 10 second car........

Need to do my new time testing to compare against the old times.

I am slightly disapointed however to be fair it is only running on 25 BHP Jets, I am presuming that once i am running on the full 100 BHP jets it will be awesome. I am just so so impatient.

Scooby needs speed and i need it NOW.....

4 Weeks before it is up to the full 100 BHP increase totalling 400 BHP

Hmm, I'm tossing up whether to get nitrous on my FTO. There's not many other options out there, turboing the mivec engine is a nightmare, so I've been told. But a couple of people have fitted EVO engines, but I bet that again will be mad-expensive.

Wow, I have just tried out the N.O.S. Bottle Warmer

The bottle warmer warms the gases (Nitrous Oxide) inside the bottle and as you probably already know when you heat a gas it expands causing more pressure. Nitrous Oxide performs best at approx 1000 p.s.i. so to obtain this pressure you need to warm the bottle unless it is a very hot summers day. I heated the bottle slightly to raise the pressure to close to 1000 p.s.i. and opened her up, Wow, Wow, Wow, Wow................

The bitch simply got up and went, Bloody marvellous, I feel allot more confident now over the whole N.O.S. install.

The car is going back in on monday to have a few little tweeks done and to get the 50 BHP jets fitted, Will get it back on Tuesday night. Carnt wait for more N.O.S.

Watch this space for regular updates and new performance times as posted at the start of this topic but with N.O.S. running at 25 BHP jets.

Scooby really has gone insane, Proppa.......

The Scooby is back in the "Nitrous Oxide" Hospital getting the following additions.

 • Electronic Bottle warmer controller unit

 • Nitrous Oxide Pressure Gauge Fitted

 • Nitrous Oxide Purge Kit fitted

 • 50 Brakehorse power Nitrous Jet's fitted

 • Blitz Turbo Timer Fitted

 • HKS Fuel Cut Defender Fitted

I Think there is more than this but just cannot remember

Problem is the Impreza wont be finished until Thursday Lunch time. I was meant to be getting a full executive Valet done tomorrow however i am having to settle for a smaller Valet, T-Cut and buff. Should still look good though

After i get it back from there i have to attend the Cruisewirral Meet and then down to Autosafe to fit the new flamer kit and maybe another little toy fitted if i can keep my eyes open long enough....

Bed, Sleep, Shower and then off to the Modified Nationals. Carnt Wait, just hope all the mods go to plan ????????????????

Just a quick up-date, The Nitrous Oxide is awesome, WOW..........................

Running the 50 BHP Jets now with the Purge kit working correctly also

Used 2 full bottles of the stuff already and going for a refill to-night hopefully ??

I would recomend N.O.S. To anyone whom wants performance from there engine.

NOS sure does sound like a lot of fun laugh have you had to uprate any of the engine parts so far? did you fit it yourself or did someone else do it for ya?
Posted By: Scooby Re: Impreza With Nitrous Oxide - 25th May 2004 6:32pm
You do not have to upgrade your engine, however the more BHP you push out of an engine the more stress is is under therefore has more chance of breaking. Same as any engine performance modification...........

I was going to fit it myself, however i do not get allot of time to myself therefore i had a Nitrous Oxide specialist install it for me. Also the N.O.S. Install i have is very very complicated indeed, its not a basic set-up by any means.....

Scooby's Got More N.O.S. ..... Yipee, I will be running the same times and speeds as what are at the begining of this topic soon and compare the times against the car without Nitrous.

Should Be very very interesting to compare the differances......... Keep looking.

scooby,

my mate has just got a P1 - any ideas what NOS would take the performace to and if its worth him doing it?
Posted By: Scooby Re: Impreza With Nitrous Oxide - 17th Jun 2004 7:36pm
You can very easily control how much extra power the Nitrous Oxide gives you by fitting different size jets (Takes 2 mins) or a Minimax Nitrous digital controller....

Most kits will provide him with up to 100 BHP Power increase, You can range anywhere from 10 BHP to 1000 BHP power increase.

Warning : The more power you put through a standard engine the more chance it has of failing or simply blowing up.......

I am currently running 50 BHP jets, Soon increasing to 75 BHP increase once i find a suitable clutch to cope with all the power gains
