hopefully in the next month or so I'll have enough cash for some alloys. ive decided to go for 16s with 195/40 rubber and lower the car 40mm all round.
the big question is what wheels do i choose? ive been thinking about either :

TSW reflex

or

TSW Apex

or

TSW Fury.

what do you guys think?

I think you should get either the apex, or multispokes such as

OZ super T GT's, more than likely these'll cost more mate but i reckon they'll be well worth it!

look for rims that you like then see if any lesser known companies make a similar rim, because the lesser known companies will be a fair wack cheaper, i've seen copies of my O.Z Titan rims about a 1-2 hundred cheaper just cos they aint got the "O.Z Racing" logo on it

gettin' me a set of these in a few weeks laugh

Whatever you do don't do what i did.

Bought a set of alloys and buckled 2 in a week! Had to fork out for 2 new one's & 3 tyres! Cost nearly as much as what i paid for the 4!!!

Not that i think you will do this!

Anyway just got them all fitted again, i will learn by my mistakes! (maybe LOL)

You've got the right ones there mate, imo the fury's don't suit small cars

<img border="0" alt="[laff my ass off]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions042.gif" /> women drivers always curb there wheels and we know it!

is it just me or do the furys look a little dated? i've seen 15 inch ones before an they looked more like 14's.

my dad knows a fella in liverpool and he told me that if i can get my hands on just the alloys, he could get me the right tyres at a boss price (fitted and all the rest). the only problem is getting the alloys. theyre almost as expensive as a full package....which makes me think i should just get the whole lot at once (but theyd probably come with crappy tyres).
where did everyone else get there wheels from?
thanks peeps

i went to wheelbase in oldham with Represent(garry with the 306) to get his 17inch wolfrace mantis rims, they were the cheapest price we found and they fitted them for no extra cost, they have a nice little show room full of rims to. they've normally got a 5 or 6 page advert in max power.

Try Northern Wheels by Ellesmere Port.

If ya go with the money, you can usually con him with a good deal lol.

My mate went with £1k and got 2 sets of 17 inch wheels that were retailing at about £650
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 12:06pm
yeah ive heard of wheelbase and they seem to have the best prices, but then i need to pay an extra 60odd quid on top of the package for valves, balancing and locking wheels nuts which is totalling up to about 470quid for 15s. when i think of it this way i might as well go for 16s.......i just dont know what to do frown

I'll have a look at norhern wheels too, might give them a ring and see what they say.
cheers fellas
Posted By: Anonymous Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 12:33pm
when we went we only payed extra for the locking wheel nuts, everything else was included in the price, you have the option of extras like locking wheel nuts, expensive locking wheel nuts, different tyres etc.

what are the prices like for tyre's for 16's?

i'd go for 17's if i were you, you can get some really good deals on the wheel an tyre packages (im sure i've seen 17' wheels+tyres for £500 in motorworld) and i've seen 17' tyres for £50 a corner which aint bad considerin i just payed £40 a corner for 15's an they were the cheapest i cud find.

hope this helps rather than just confuse you <img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" />
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 1:38pm
ive just been on the blower to wheelbase and all together for a set of 15s with Toyo tyres its £400. The only extras are for the locking wheels nuts (an extra £30), so in total for a set of 15's its £430, but for 16s its £500 - which makes them more tempting. ive gotta remember its gonna be at least another £300 to get new springs and dampers fitted as well. and then my insurance is due for renewal on the 22nd too frown (good job its my birthday wink )
looks like Im gonna have to start selling my unwanted relatives tease

what size and make tyres have you got on your car misteradam?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 1:45pm
good stuff mate <img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" />

i got 195/45/15's, Toyo's on the back, Falcons(i think) on the front (cos i was skint at tyre renewal time so went for the cheapest ones)

i do like the toyo's but they wear out a bit quickly, it might just be my driving but who knows.

how much are the 16's with the cheaper brand of tyre? i'd recomend the toyo's but if your not going to be driving very fast and cornering very hard is it worth spending the extra money on them?

<img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" />
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 2:00pm
i do tend to drive quite fast and corner hard. the tyres ive got now are absolutely terrible and they do my car's handling no justice. on wet days when i go around round abouts i have to stick it in 3rd so i dont wheel spin. on saturday just gone i nearly crashed because the tyres are so bad, i was sliding and couldnt turn the car around a corner.....it just went straight frown
so tyres are important, i'll make sure i get a decent set
Posted By: Anonymous Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 2:08pm
i know tyres are important  just wondered if you drive like a 200 year old granny(im not saying that you do) would it be worth spendin loads on performance tyres if u get me, if you can afford them then i'd recomend them cos i think they're pretty good <img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" />
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 2:09pm
dunno about performance tyres cos my car's well slow. just a decent set that arent gonna break the bank and arent gonna get me killed.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 2:15pm
should make your car feel a bit quicker though, being able to carry more speed through corners <img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" />

go for the 16's with toyo's, you wont regret it laugh
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 2:29pm
reckon i'll need to mod the arches? i dont wanna have to spend money doing that cos id like to get the collection ones in a few months and it'd be pointless paying for the same thing twice, dont you think?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 2:54pm
i dont have much knowledge of the Ka's myself, get intouch wiht wheelbase again though and they should be able to help?

why not get the lowering and the arches done at the same time, will be less hasstle getting it all done in one go rather than having to take it to the garage twice if that makes sense?

my fiesta's lowered about 50-60mm and only rubs a tiny bit on full lock to the left, htats with no arch mod's at all, but then again its they're only 15's.

is there and ford ka forums? people on there should be a good help because there will be people who have done allsorts to their cars so you can ask about their experiences and how they overcome and problems such as lowering and arches

<img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[does this help]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions041.gif" />
Posted By: lazy_ben Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 2:55pm
good point, sounds like a plan, cheers mate
Posted By: Anonymous Re: alloys - 10th May 2004 3:03pm
no problem mate <img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" />

why not try getting as many mates as you can in the car and see how low it goes before it rubs the arches, its daft but it just might work <img border="0" alt="[laff my ass off]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions042.gif" />

be sure to let us know when you get your wheels or lower it or anything, would be good to see the progress <img border="0" alt="cool" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions049.gif" />
